Contributions provided for the Taihe Orphanage: This is a new orphanage for us. After some adoptive families requested that we start working with this orphanage, Dr. Gurrad contacted Amity, who agreed to include them. We're all happy to help! |

The first project for this orphanage was to provide a new heavy-duty washing machine to help keep up with the children's laundry and some heater fans to provide some warmth. The adoptive families raised the money and Amity made and delivered the purchases. |

Equipment Needs Met: The orphanage staff also really needed a clothes dryer. We used donations from our General Relief Fund to provide them with one. Congratulations on a very good start for families working with this orphanage! |

Contributions provided for the Wanzai Orphanage Equipment and Infant Beds Provided: Their only washing machine was working all day and night. And, there were ten new infants who needed beds. WanZai adoptive families pitched in and raised the funds for all and Amity workers had everything delivered. Thanks, everyone! Foster Care Provided: Six children have been sponsored in foster care. Medical Needs Met: A number of medical needs have been met through donations to Altrusa in this orphanage. And, Smile Train provided cleft lip and palate surgery for WJJ, a boy born in November of 2002. Thanks to everyone who helped!

Contributions provided for the Xinyu Orphanage Foster Care Sponsorships: We now have 23 children who have been placed in foster care, most with mild disabilities. During the Amity staff's visit, they observed that the families are up to our standards and love the children very much. We're glad to see attachments forming. The children are in a much better environment with their new families. Hugging Grannies: We have received sponsorships for 3 Hugging Grannies at this orphanage. Thank You! |

Medical Needs Met: YMM, a child in this orphanage, needed a wheelchair. We were able to use money from our General Fund to pay for this. Thanks for contributing! YX received an orthopedic shoe pad. YZZ, a girl born in June of 2002 (below left) received surgery for cleft palate on the left side and cleft lip surgery. Surgery was provided by Smile Train. YZD, a girl born in July of 2001 (below right) received extensive cleft palate surgery. Surgery was provided by Smile Train. |

YH, a girl born in September of 1987 had congenital cataracts in both eyes. Vitreous implantation surgeries have now been completed successfully for both eyes. YZ, a girl born in December of 1988 also needed surgery for congenital cataracts in both eyes. She was taken for surgery in July, 2003 and it was successful! Young Man Raised in the Xinyu Orphanage Received Heart Surgery: "ZZG", who grew up as an orphaned boy living in the Xinyu orphanage has received heart surgery for a congenital heart disease (a ventricular septal defect). He's doing great and is already helping out around the orphanage. |

Contributions provided for the Yichun Orphanage Medical Needs Met: YHC, a child in this orphanage needed surgery for a hemangioma. Thanks to contributions made to our General Fund, we were able to ensure that this got taken care of right away. Thanks! YAH, an infant girl born on 9/21/03, has a lymphoma. Surgery will be performed as soon as possible, to excise the lymphoma. YAG, an infant girl born on 7/9/03, was born with a cleft lip and cleft palate. Her first surgery will repair the cleft lip. Smile Train has just offered to perform this surgery for us! Hugging Grannies: 2 Amity Hugging Grannies began working in April, 2000 and 1 more began work in July, 2002. One works with the physically challenged children and another works in the babie's room. We've now received funds to renew the annual sponsorship fees for these volunteers. Thank You! New Equipment Provided: Funding for two washing machines and two air conditioners was provided by YiChun adoptive parents and Amity Foundation workers oversaw the purchase and delivery. Contributions provided for Yihuang Orphanage Medical Needs Met: An incubator was badly needed in this orphanage. Newly abandoned babies are usually weak or premature and will benefit greatly by having this life saving device available. We used donations from our General Relief Fund to provide a new incubator for the orphanage. Educational Needs Met: Six children received sponsorship for Primary School for the Deaf. HL, a deaf young man in Yihuang purchased his beloved computer! He is very excited to have it and has learned how to use the software quickly. He can type 90 words per minute now and takes a computer course every morning. |

Contributions provided for Yingtan Orphanage Medical Needs Met: This orphanage is understaffed and needed a nurse. The Amity Foundation had a well-trained nurse available, who was willing to work for US $65/month. We've received a pledge for this. Thanks! FXB, a child in this orphanage, needed a wheelchair. Otherwise, it would have been impossible for him to get to school. We used funds from those of you who donated to our General Fund for this. Your donations for whatever is most needed really help! FXY has received a left wrist brace and finger divider. FL has received a walker. New Equipment Provided: We were able to raise funds for twenty children's beds for this orphanage. Being in the southern part of China, Jiangxi province gets a lot of rain during the winter and spring. Yingtan orphanage really needed an industrial strength dryer to keep up with the need for clean, dry diapers for the babies. Donations came in and they now have their new dryer! A ladder chair for the children, a wedge cushion and a crawling barrel were also provided for the little ones. FY, a boy 10 years old with hydrocephalus has received a wheelchair so that he can get around by himself. He has also been placed with a foster family! |

New Playground Equipment Provided: This orphanage could really use some safe playground equipment. We've decided to use money from our General Fund to provide some for the kids! Below is a picture of the equipment that Amity is ordering for them. It also has a roof, which isn't shown below. |

Foster Care Sponsorships: 21 children have been sponsored in foster care. Below is a photo of FL, a happy boy with his new foster family! Some of the children are older or have special needs. The children have been carefully placed in homes where the families are prepared to care for them and give them the love that they deserve in order to be the best that they can be! You can sponsor one of these kids for $396 per year or $198 for a half-year. |

Contributions provided for the Yujiang Orphanage Medical Needs Met: YHZ, a boy born in June of 2001 received cleft palate surgery. Surgery was provided by Smile Train. BBH has received surgery for a cleft lip, and now has received medical sponsorship to receive surgery for a cleft palate. YYC, a toddler girl born in December of 2001 received surgery for a deformity of the right thumb and has since been adopted by an American family. YHP, a girl born in February of 2001 received a hernia surgery and is now in foster care. PLY, a 23 year old woman, who was disabled due to an accident, received a new wheel chair and with some rehabilitation she can now stand up and walk with the help of a walker! |
