"Emmie" is in the Hospital Recovering From Her Heart Surgery...

Our Emmie (HJH), from the Nanchang Social Welfare Institute is currently in the Shanghai Children's Medical Center recovering from her surgery!

Pictured in the photo above, taken when she was awaiting surgery earlier this week, our little girl is doing just fine.

The purpose of the surgery was to correct a congenital heart disease known as a ventricular septal defect, but it was also associated with pulmonary stenosis and blockage of the right outflow tract, which together is called tetralogy of fallot.

It was reported that Emmie is in good condition and that doctors were going to disconnect her from the ventilator.  Now Emmie should be able to live a long, normal life.

We still need your help to fund additional surgeries that we know will be necessary when the doctors feel the time is right for other children.  We'd also be grateful to be able to raise funds for any needed follow-up care or additional surgeries for these and other children.
